The main goal of the project is to design, manufacture and test external doors made of composite materials, which will be achieved by carrying out research works in the form of industrial research and development.
The innovative nature of the research objective of the project is to improve the functionality of external doors while creating structures and technologies ensuring the achievement of an economic effect, the source of which will be to increase the thermal insulation of the door with a heat transfer coefficient U of no more than 1.3 W / (m2K).
In terms of material solutions, the main structural elements of the door, such as the load-bearing profiles of the door leaves and frames, will be made of a composite with a polymer matrix reinforced with natural or glass fibers. Additionally, it is planned to use the recycled waste in a closed loop.
In the production of doors, the developed composites will replace other conventional materials, such as wood (in the rails) and steel (in the frames). The designed geometry and the selected material of the profiles will be adapted to the technical parameters of the extrusion device.
As part of the project, door prototypes will be developed and made that meet legal requirements, technical conditions and standards for residential buildings, including external doors.
Some of the works planned in the project were subcontracted, i.e. the Warsaw University of Technology, the Faculty of Materials Science and Engineering, which is responsible, inter alia, for the selection of composites for the components of the door, laboratory tests of selected materials and numerical calculations related to thermal insulation.
